Maxx Laate
Maxx Laate is an extraordinary artist having taught many in his family the art of fetish carving. We're inspired by the power conveyed from his vibrant lapis lazuli Eagle (or Hawk) fetish pendant. Eagles see far and wide in nature teaching us to try and see the whole picture in any situation. A magnificent beak and an eye from turquoise are surrounded by a handmade bezel of sterling silver accents including a wonderful spiral element. Measurements including the red coral inlaid bale are approximately 2 1/2" long and 1 5/8" wide. The nice silver snake chain is not included but is available and sold separately here.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this eagle fetish will go to the Zuni Eagle Sanctuary.

Smokey Gchachu
Smokey Gchachu is a gifted silversmith and jeweler from Zuni Pueblo who creates truly unique works of wearable art. He recently brought by an elegant Sleeping Beauty turquoise and branch red coral sterling silver necklace and earrings set. The sterling silver chain is meticulously hand woven and is shared with many delicious segments of natural branch red coral and a Sleeping Beauty turquoise cabochon. Double jump rings unite the exquisitely bezeled stations. The stunning necklace is a fashionable choker length at about 18" long. The lovely earrings thoroughly compliment the necklace and dangle at approximately 1 1/4" long including hooks and 3/8" wide. They are of a lightweight in wearability. A signed by the artist designer set not to be missed.
Quiet Bobcats are members of the greater cat family prospering because they know how to adapt and change when necessary. Their example in nature teaches us to be creative and progressive, to bring something new into being. Daphne and Leland Boone's smoothly sculpted onyx wildcat has turquoise eyes and can be the inspiration to be the change needed. An iridescent mother-of-pearl point offering is a lovely compliment to the earth-hued stripes within stone. About 2 5/8" long, 5/8" wide and 2" tall.
Herbert Halate
Herbert Halate's balancing bushytail (Coyote, Fox, or Wolf) pair is carved from jet and fish rock serpentine reminding us of the balance between light and dark, and the need for both. Light and shadow are mutually creative and transformative, and neither can exist without the other. Eyes are from turquoise inlays and fur is lightly etched. About 3 1/4" long, 1 1/8" wide and 7/8" tall.

Burt Awelagte
Brown and black bears can live in forests at sea level. Perhaps Burt Awelagte's turquoise-eyed Bear journeyed to a favorite sandy beach and brought back an ocean-inspired offering bundle containing a gorgeous little seashell, honey-hued amber and sea-foam green turquoise nuggets. Carved from a lovely banded travertine onyx, our beach-loving friend measures approximately 3 1/2" long, 1" wide and roughly 2 1/4" tall.

Danette Laate
Habitat fragmentation has severely effected Mountain-lion (cougar, puma or panther) populations in states like California. There they desperately need more wildlife crossings over or under highways to allow them to mix with other populations and maintain genetic diversity. Wildlife crossings also assist in avoiding collisions between vehicles and animals. Danette Laate's earthy dolomite feline is inlaid with a uniquely positioned heartline or breath path from turquoise, jet and coral. The same rich materials were utilized to set a Zuni Sunface element as well. Eyes are from turquoise inlays and whiskers are sweetly etched. About 2 3/4" long, 1/2" wide and 5/8" tall.
Bears are a spiritual and ecological force. They are fellow beings considered close family members by Indigenous cultures. Bears teach us qualities about protection, strength and healing. They are also forest managers whose foraging habits and mighty claws aerate the soil, while scat spreads vital seeds and contributes to nutrient cycling. Burt Awelagte is from the greater Othole family of Zuni Pueblo artists. His late cousin Joey Quam helped him get started in carving. We adore Burt's animals like this growling Bear made from a lively alabaster. Eyes are from jet inlays. About 2 3/4" long, 3/4" wide and roughly 1 3/4" tall.

Bryston Bowannie
Peacocks are colorful pheasants in the peafowl family. They were designated as the national bird of India in 1963. Known as mayura in Sanskrit, peacocks hold an honored place often depicted in temple art, mythology, poetry, music and traditions. Bryston Bowannie's foraging bird from travertine displays a relaxed train with etched eye spots. A male peacock spreads his tail feathers to display a spectacular fan of blue and green. Each feather hosts an eye-like shape giving the illusion of large penetrating eyes. Not only do these eyes attract mates, but they also scare away potential predators and act as camouflage. Eyes are from turquoise inlays. About 1 3/4" long, 1/2" wide and 3/4" tall.

Sedrick Banteah
Indigenous Peoples always knew Coyotes and Badgers were friends even hunting cooperatively. In recent years, a remote sensing camera installed near an underground wildlife crossing in the Southern Santa Cruz Mountains in California captured a sweet moment between a coyote and badger friend as they traveled together through a tunnel pass. Their natural interaction provides evidence of Indigenous wisdom in action. Wildlife crossings don't exist everywhere so it pays to slow down when driving in case our animal friends are crossing the highway. Sedrick Banteah's Picasso marble badger has turquoise eyes. It is highly-detailed with many incising marks for fur accents. About 2" long, 1" wide and 5/8" tall.

Felino Eriacho
Master carver Felino Eriacho and his good friend fellow carver Fred Bowannie, Jr. hike around Zuni land to find incredible local materials to create animal carvings from. A stunning portion of found septarian is from the Fence Lake area near Zuni. Felino transformed the septarian into a wonderful fishing Bear with sweet pen shell eyes to a height of approximately 4 1/2" tall, 4" wide and 4 1/2" long. Beautifully polished, a stunning network of calcite formations create amazing texture and are fun to inspect. Two small natural crevices in the calcite are enchanting enough to warrant visiting with a small flashlight. The wonderfully etched fish has pen shell eyes. Signed by the artist.

Larry Peina
Larry Peina's animal carvings are magical because they feel like the days of old when the ancestors began carving for spiritual and traditional reasons. They seem to be conveyed with an innocence that brings us closer to the essential and sacred things in life, like a pure awareness without concepts or constraints. Sculpted from Picasso marble, a delightful Mountain-lion (puma, panther or cougar) has tiny eyes from turquoise inlays, a beautiful sgraffito etched tail and an iridescent abalone point offering bundle. Approximately 4 1/2" long, 1 5/8" wide and 2 1/4" tall.
For some Plains Indigenous tribes, Lizards are linked with healing, survival and masculinity. A newborn boy's umbilical cord was sewn into the shape of a lizard to ensure the little one's good health, energy and strength. Nelson Yatsattie's phenomenal reptile duo is masterfully hewn from one rich portion of Picasso marble. Eyes from turquoise inlays convey individuality while tails are lusciously long. These life-like lizards feel like they could scurry off the stone in the blink of an eye. No matter what angle this gorgeous carving is viewed from, there are stunning details and natural colors to behold. Approximately 4 1/4" tall, 3" wide and 2 1/2" deep.
A loving family means no one gets left behind in Maxx Laate's Bear clan as they journey together. Each of the three bears have individuality and wonderful personality. Eyes are from turquoise. Maxx and his late brother Pernell Laate learned the art of fetish carving from their uncle Willard Laate. Measurements of this masterpiece from one piece of jet are about 4" long, 1" wide and 7/8" tall. We love how they're presented on an arrow point base, simply exquisite.
Anthony Lovato, Kewa (Santo Domingo)
Plowing head first through a mighty snowstorm are powerful Bison gracing Anthony Lovato's tufa cast sterling silver and Sleeping Beauty turquoise cuff bracelet. It was lovingly created in the labor-intensive tufa cast method. This is an exacting jewelry process involving cutting a tufa stone in half, smoothing out both surface sides, etching a sprue hole on top, then carefully carving out these buffalo in which Anthony poured in molten sterling silver. The gorgeous Sleeping Beauty turquoise cabochon compliments this work of wearable art in a truly colorful way. Inside this comfortable cuff bracelet, is Anthony's signature along with inspiring Horses. This collectible cuff bracelet's entire inner circumference is about 6" which includes the opening of about 1 1/4". Please click here for help in determining wrist size.

Bernie Laselute
Beavers take to the water building complex dams and lodges, creating ponds and wetlands that improve the neighborhood for all the other woodland creatures. Bernie Laselute's water friend is focused and gets the job done. It's been carved from Picasso marble with contrasting turquoise inlaid eyes. Clean incising on the tail region represents the scaly paddle-shaped appendages these hardworking animals have. About 2" long, 3/4" wide and 3/4" tall.
Chris Peina
Two tender-hearted Bear cubs stay close to mother as they spend a day in training. Pueblo cultures view bears as family members with exemplary mothers who display ardent devotion, protection and love for their cubs. Celebrate strong maternal instincts in Chris Peina's bear carving from one portion of antler. Eyes are from turquoise inlays. Fur is beautifully etched, while ears, muzzles and paws are sweetly rendered. About 4" tall, 2 3/4" wide and 2" deep.
Ray Tsalate
Many of Ray Tsalate's fetishes are depictions of regal Maidens dressed in their very best waiting to dance. At about 1 1/2" tall, 1" wide and 3/4" deep, an amazing burnished antler Maiden or Maiden Grandmother (one who has not had a baby but has mothered many) is identified by traditionally-styled whorled hair and the wearing of a shawl. Beautiful etching accents her hair, while pen shell eyes and a coral mouth are expertly inlaid. Colorful turquoise and red coral are also set. Burnished moccasins or boots are adorned with lapis lazuli, a lovely touch.
Jonas Hustito
Engaging in playful pose or practicing to be the top predator, Jonas Hustito's young puma (Mountain-lion, cougar or panther) is carved from jet and has a generously incised fur coat. We're adoring its long cork screw tail, smart eyes from inlaid turquoise and little whiskers. About 3 1/2" long, 7/8" wide and 1 3/8" tall.
