Quiet solitude is enjoyed by a
Mountain-lion (cougar, puma or panther) as it travels long distances teaching us to find some alone time to contemplate. Carved from elkhorn marble by Melvin Sandoval with an old-style tail up and over the animal's backside. A divine petrified wood point offering bundle is secured to the side of this approximately 3 1/2" long, 1" wide and 1 3/4" tall secluded feline. Offering bundles are attached by the artist to an animal carving as a way of saying thank you for how it lives in nature and what we learn from that. Petrified wood came to be because minerals including silica dissolved from volcanic ash and absorbed into porous wood then crystallized within the cellular structure. This ancient fossilization process took place over a very long period of time.
