As a keystone species, prairie dogs contribute to many ecosystems. Their homes are repurposed by burrowing Owls and other wildlife. Soil quality improves because they mix topsoil and subsoil bringing beneficial nutrients to the surface. Prairie dogs should be revered and not treated as target practice. Their animal medicine teaches us how to treat others well. In nature, they identify each other with a kiss, share resources plus they help neighbors and other families to build burrows. They also warn each other of danger. Salvador Romero's shy prairie dog is upright at about 5" tall, 3" wide and 1" deep, carved from found stone.
