Corn
The Zuni people were farmers and corn was among their main staples. Pueblo people call corn itself "the mother" because of their dependance on corn and corn's emergence from the primary mother, Earth itself. They carry corn meal or corn pollen with them (usually in a small leather pouch). Their use of corn in prayers and ceremonies is an affirmation of the connection between Earth and all life. Cornmeal is used to metaphorically "feed" fetishes.
