The Zuni Sunface is a traditional design symbolizing a balance of the elements as seen in Danette Laate's Corn-Maiden. It's made from coral, jet and turquoise. She's carved from a desert-hued and naturally layered onyx, while facial features are set with turquoise and jet. Whorled hair is gorgeously incised and lobes are adorned with turquoise inlays. Sculpted from one lovely fish rock serpentine specimen, Cheryl Beyuka's stunning piece is double-sided. The Corn Maiden's pot is filled with delicious ears of ripe corn carved from apple coral, turquoise and mother-of-pearl. Zuni Olla Maidens are one of the most renowned dance groups in New Mexico. The members dance with fragile pottery jars or ollas, balanced on the top of their heads. Traditionally ollas would be used to transport all kinds of things including sacred Corn meal or life-giving water. Burt Awelagte's Olla Maiden is carved from a matrix-rich turquoise. The sculpted jar is from another gorgeous variety of turquoise, permanently attached to the Olla Maiden. Facial features are from clean jet inlays. The harvest season comes to the Pueblo late summer. Cody Chavez's Corn Maiden represents the bounty and sacred importance of Corn. For the A:Shiwi (Zuni) and other Indigenous societies, growing corn is a sustenance crop called the Mother because it’s cultivated from Mother Earth. Carved from serpentine with dimensional layers of toffee-hued goodness, measurements of Corn Maiden are approximately 2 3/8" tall, 5/8" wide and 1 3/8" deep. Assured eyes and accent inlays are from turquoise. A Zuni Sunface symbol from inlaid coral, jet and turquoise represents a balance of the elements.

Her latest offering is a colorful Zuni Olla Maiden doll skillfully hand-crocheted from soft acrylic yarn, dressed and ready for all the doings. In real life, Olla Maidens skillfully balance pottery jars a top their heads, dancing in grace and tradition. No detail was spared. A dress called a manta is secured by a sash belt. A pretty knitted pink and white blouse has sweet ruffled sleeves. A cape bears blossoms accompanied by Bobbie's initials. Hair is traditionally styled. Generously adorned with miniature costume jewelry like earrings, a naja or crescent necklace, bracelets and rings, she also comes with a complimentary display stand. A wonderful collectible treasure. Dylan Poblano is a uniquely expressive artist who studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. He descends from Zuni carving great Leo Poblano. "Anasazi Traveller" is a dynamic hand-fabricated sterling silver sculpture that's only 2 3/4" tall, 7/8" wide and 7/8" deep but holds so much meaning. The Anasazi were ancient ancestral ones whose descendants are Pueblo and Hopi Peoples. Wearing a traditional headdress called a tablita adorned with rays of intersecting lines and presented on a star-shaped base, perhaps "Anasazi Traveller" represents the many pathways of innate knowledge Indigenous ones have and want to share.
