Todd Westika is a member of the greater Quandelacy and Johnny Quam (d) family of carvers. His parents are Sheldon and Nancy Westika, fabulous jewelers and carvers themselves. Todd's grandmother was noted jeweler Anne Gasper Quam (d) who learned jewelry making from her father Johnny Quam (d). Anne's sister was Ellen Quandelacy (d).
Todd's carved turquoise Zuni maiden pendant is a lovely work of wearable art. Sterling silver eyes and a lovely copper necklace are inlaid. Including silver bale fixture with red coral beads, this wonderful pendant is about 2" long, 3/4" wide and 1/4" deep. The silver snake chain is not included but is available and sold separately here.
Four Zuni maidens carved from travertine inlaid with turquoise eyes and mouths grace this approximate 21" long necklace by Ryan Awelagte. He is already an extraordinary carver for one so young. His skills were handed down to him by his father Burt Awelagte. He is from the greater Othole family of accomplished fetish artists. Burt's uncle is renowned carver Gibbs Othole. Ryan's little brother is Kyle, a budding artist.
Scrumptious green turquoise, fresh water pearl and natural branch red coral beads are strung on this gorgeous work of wearable art that celebrates feminine energy and strength. The maiden's average in size from about 1" long by 3/4" wide. A sterling silver toggle clasp closure is lovely.
Sandra Quandelacy's reversible corn and maidens pendant necklace showcases colorful and out-of-sight materials like green turquoise, orange spiny oyster shell, lapis, marble, pipestone, fossilized ivory, phosphosiderite and jet all carved and incised into individual corn cobs that average about 1 3/8" long. They are neatly strung with turquoise, red coral, white shell and heishe shell beads on a single strand that's about 25" long.
Taking center stage on this fabulous necklace is a reversible gold lip shell corn maiden on one side, while the other side is a Grandmother, about 3" long and 1" wide. We love how Sandra's handled the traditional clothing Grandmother is wearing, the pleat details are wonderful. Both maidens are incised with lovely Dragonfly friends and star elements, and are inlaid with red coral, turquoise and jet bits. Their facial features are incised and inlaid with jet paste. Don't miss this collectible fetish necklace, it's exceptional.
