Hummingbirds are Justin Red Elk's carving specialty. He is from the greater Leonard Halate (d) family of Zuni artists. His mother is carver Pansy Natachu. Justin's uncle and aunts are carvers Herbert Halate, Reva Halate and Marvelita Phillips, among many other wonderful artists from this lineage. Jet inlaid eyes and a mother-of-pearl beak are highlights of this approximately 2" tall, 3/4" wide and 1 5/8" deep serpentine jewel in the sky.
