Christopher Sandoval, Zuni-San Felipe
Christopher Sandoval is carver Melvin Sandoval's son. We're intrigued by Chris' magnesite specimen, which is quite pretty because the variations are unique and a joy to look at. It makes for a gorgeous, low to the ground Badger, about 2 1/2" long, 1 1/2" wide and 5/8" tall, with turquoise inlaid eyes. It's well-polished too.
Joshua Leekya's Picasso marble Badger is about 2 5/8" long, 1 3/4" wide and 7/8" tall, with jet inlaid eyes. Joshua's offering bundle consists of a nicely carved mother-of-pearl point, turquoise beads and a segment of natural branch red coral. Badgers digs burrows underground called a "sett".
This bright eyed Badger is ready to spring into action. Alexander Chavez carved this little cutie from orange alabaster, gave it inlaid eyes and spots of turquoise. This watcher is about 1 1/2" long and just under 1" wide with nicely incised stripes from nose to tail.
