The Mole's subterranean fortress features specialized chambers that can extend for hundreds of feet. These hidden underground highways are used to journey safely here and there. Danette Laate's young fluorite beneath the ground creature has turquoise eyes and a Zuni Sunface symbol from jet, coral and turquoise. The Sunface symbol represents harmony and balance of the elements. Approximately 2 1/2" long, 1 1/8" wide and 5/8" tall.

A Zuni Sunface symbol is inlaid on Danette Laate's Turtle (or tortoise) carved from onyx. It represents balance in life: traditionally, turquoise (blue) stands for Father Sky, coral (red) stands for Mother Earth and mother-of-pearl shell (white) and jet (black) represent all the elements in balance. The Sunface is used as an offering or blessing from the artist in thanks for the medicine or spirit that it brings to us. Turquoise inlays adorn the lovely etched carapace as well as the reptile's eyes. The Sunface element is from turquoise, jet and coral. About 2 1/8" long, 1 1/8" wide and 1/2" tall. View item

The ground is where the magic happens, where roots run deep and Badger thrives. No wonder Zuni medicine men consult the badger who knows the curative plants of its underground kingdom. Tenacious badgers teach us to have courage to never give up and to try again tomorrow. Danette Laate's Picasso marble badger is inlaid with a Zuni Sunface symbol from jet, red coral and turquoise, representing the elements in balance. Fur etching is beautifully rendered. A steely-eyed gaze is from turquoise inlays. About 2 1/8" long, roughly 1 1/8" wide and 5/8" tall.

It's said that a porcupine has an average of 30,000 quills on its body. Despite the prickly security, this little creature is quite friendly, curious and sweet. They are a great reminder that being open about your boundaries can help to weed out unnecessary energies that don't compliment you or your goals. Carved from vermillion marble and inlaid with a balancing Zuni Sunface element from jet, coral and turquoise, Danette Laate's woodland companion is about 2 1/8" long, 3/8" wide and 1 1/8" tall. Floating with the ocean's current, Danette Laate's gorgeous young fluorite sea Turtle's incised carapace has watery blue turquoise inlays. Endearing eyes from turquoise are set to a nicely turned head. Powerful flippers are specialized for aquatic movement. These important and endangered ocean reptiles spend a lot of time near the surface of the water as they're air breathers. When they nest ashore, hatched eggshell and nesting remnants nourish beaches making them strong. About 1 7/8" long, 1 1/2" wide and 5/8" tall.
