Fernando Laiwakete
Fernando is part of a family deeply rooted in carving. He was one of six brothers, five of whom, Bernard, the late Tony, and Donovan, became carvers. The tradition has continued through the generations, including Bernard’s son Kenric and his grandson Verrick, who at just twelve years old is beginning his own carving journey. Although Fernando’s brother Gabriel did not take up the craft, Gabriel’s late son Carleton also carried the tradition forward.
