Danette Laate
is backordered. We will ship it separately when it becomes available.
Ancient Mesoamerican civilizations regarded beautiful Butterflies as messengers who carried the souls of warriors who had died in battle or women who passed on in childbirth to spiritual places. The Mayan regard the butterfly's metamorphosis as a metaphor for the human journey, the cycle of life and death. Danette Laate's gorgeous butterfly has been carved from apatite and inlaid with turquoise eyes and lovely wing accents. About 1 3/4" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 3/8" deep.
Some Butterflies are migratory such as the monarch butterfly. They navigate by measuring the sun's position in the sky. They can fly up to a mile high, often riding thermal air currents. Danette Laate's Silverado jet pollinator has turquoise accents and eyes. Little antennae and body segments are nicely etched. Stopping for a moment's rest, this brave traveller measures about 2" tall, 3/8" wide and 1 1/4" long.
