In the old days, vital crop seeds like corn, beans and squash were stored in protective seed pottery jars, kept safe for the next planting season. Sometimes the seed potteries were painted with designs that symbolized a deep connection to Mother Earth, prayers for rain and prosperous harvests. They continue to be made today appreciated for their original use as well as their beauty. Kenneth Epaloose's handmade seed pottery jar is from natural clay and mineral pigments. Approximately 4" long, 4" wide and 2" tall. Signed by the artist.
