The Longhair Katsina is originally from Zuni Pueblo but appears at most Hopi Pueblo mesas, bringing blessings of gentle rainfall among other traditional reasons. Alvin Leon's "Hopi Long Hair" katsina doll is intricately carved from cottonwood, detailed with colorful acrylic paints, feathers, embroidery thread, yarn and fur. Long loose hair represents falling rain. Including the base, dimensions of this exquisite woodwork are about 4 3/8" tall, 1 3/4" wide and 2" deep. Signed by the artist.
