Sandra Quandelacy's reversible pendant necklace honors the strength and wisdom of women through their journey in life. Carved from refreshing orange spiny oyster shell, a Maiden Grandmother and a Corn-Maiden have soothing etched facial features filled with jet paste. The Maiden Grandmother is depicted wrapped in a shawl with a turquoise inlay. Hair is up in traditional whorls because she has not had children but has mothered many. Corn Maiden's body has lovely etched rows of corn kernels representing fertility. Coral, turquoise, jet and alunite inlays resemble the colorful flint corn cultivated by Indigenous Peoples. The necklace is strung with complimenting red and orange spiny oyster shell and turquoise beads to a fashionable length of about 22". The pendant itself is approximately 2 1/2" long and 1 1/4" wide.
