Sandra Quandelacy's double-sided Tablita
Corn-Maiden and Grandmother have been carved from rich green bloodstone to a height of approximately 3 5/8" tall, 2 1/2" wide and 3/4" deep. Various deposits of bloodstone are found in several locales worldwide including India. Sgraffito-etching brings out beautiful details including a fringed shawl. A traditional headdress called a tablita is from carved cuprite incised with
Dragonfly and star elements. Facial features are etched and filled with jet paste. Turquoise, coral and shell inlays adorn a
corn body.
