The A:Shiwi (The People) traditionally honor Six Directions in life assigning a specific color and animal for each one. White Wolf is the Prey Guardian for the East. Burt Awelagte carved a wonderful white Wolf (Coyote or Fox) from sugar stone marble to a size of approximately 6 1/4" long, 1 1/4" wide and 2 3/8" tall. Earnest eyes are from turquoise inlays. A tiny conch shell is included in the offering bundle. This carving would make a great start to a self-built set of Six Directions.
