In ancient days, giant armadillos walked Mother Earth. They belong to the extinct genus Glyptodon of the Pleistocene Epoch. Their bodies were covered by a horny and bony armor. Several years ago a farmer in Argentina discovered four of these car-sized fossilized armadillos at the bottom of a dried out river bed. Maxx Laate's trio of armadillos is sweetly and skillfully carved from one portion of antler to a size of approximately 2 1/8" long, 1 3/4" wide and 1 3/8" tall. Expressive eyes are from jet inlays, armor is intricately incised and tails are super cute.
