By Sandra Quandelacy

This offering is sold.

Corn has been a major food source for Pueblo People since long ago. Corn is regarded as the Mother because it feeds and nourishes the Pueblo both physically and spiritually. It is used in almost every blessing, ceremony and prayer. Here Sandra Quandelacy honors the Corn Mother, Grandmothers and Corn-Maidens in an iridescent gold lip shell. Shawls are bordered with Dragonflies and stars. Faces are etched and filled with jet paste. Turquoise and coral accents add a pop of color. A turquoise base is adorned with crushed turquoise to represent water. All together, dimensions of this reversible carving are approximately 2 3/4" tall, 2" wide and 1/2" deep.
