The magnificently powerful harpy eagle is one of the largest in the world. Recently sighted in a rainforest in southern Mexico where it was believed to be locally extinct, Indigenous communities and conservationists wholeheartedly celebrate the critically endangered harpy eagle's presence.

Through a special educational program, local participants engage in regular field visits and wildlife monitoring. They've received training and equipment to aid in the effort. Harpy eagles face pressure from logging and agricultural expansion. Their food web is threatened too. Creatures like monkeys and sloths that harpy eagles rely on for food must be protected as well. Plant and animal nutrition that monkeys and sloths count on are also necessary for the harpy eagle's survival. Trees are absolutely vital to nesting harpy eagles. Burt Awelagte's perched Eagle has been sculpted from a gorgeous sandstone to a size of approximately 3 1/2" tall, 2 1/4" wide and 3 1/2" long. Watchful eyes are from turquoise set to a turned head. An offering necklace contains pretty green turquoise and warm amber beads.

Found only in Western Australia, mookaite jasper is from a deposit on private land at Mooka Creek. Said to energize with life-force vigor, this gorgeous natural material is made up of different minerals and fossilized substances, most notably tiny aquatic plankton called radiolaria. Leave it to noted Zuni artist Todd Westika, who graduated from New Mexico Tech with a background in geo-engineering, to carve stunning mookaite jasper into this glorious Eagle (or Hawk) fetish necklace. His passion for rocks and minerals draws him to work with unusual stones. Each amazing raptor has eyes from sterling silver inlays. The center bird with spread wings is approximately 1 3/8" long and 1 5/8" wide, while the side raptors perch at roughly 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" long. Lovely sky blue turquoise, sterling silver and red coral beads accompany the birds on this collectible necklace that's about 30" long. Signed by the artist.

Sheryl and Strallie Edaakie's jewelry creations utilize challenging jewelry techniques such as the stone to stone method as evidenced in a glorious sterling silver Zuni Sunface cuff bracelet. The traditional Sunface symbol represents the elements in balance. A great array of individual pieces from stone, coral and shell were hand cut to lay meticulously side by side creating an almost seamless inlay, the ultimate in vibrant color and pueblo design. Sky blue turquoise, bold jet, rich pen shell, lively red coral, iridescent mother-of-pearl and luscious lapis lazuli compose the Sunface element that is surrounded by a lovely rope and silver ball border. This entire circular station is approximately 1 1/2" in diameter. The magnificent cuff which is about 1 3/8" wide, displays hand stamped motifs like growing plants, rising suns and nourishing rainfall.
