Kyle Awelagte
is backordered. We will ship it separately when it becomes available.
Part of the fun in collecting Zuni fetish carvings is the stones. Kyle Awelagte used a gorgeous alabaster when carving a uniquely shaped Bear. It has a little bit of everything like natural patterning and warm peach hues. Reflecting the complexity of the natural world including the ever-shifting seasons, this wonderful turquoise-eyed bear is about 3" long, 7/8" wide and 2 3/8" tall. An offering bundle consists of golden amber, turquoise and fresh water pearl beads.
Kyle Awelagte is already an extraordinary carver for one so young. His skills were handed down to him by his father Burt Awelagte. He is from the greater Othole family of accomplished fetish artists. Burt's uncle is renowned carver Gibbs Othole. Kyle's older brother is Ryan who is also a wonderful artist. Sculpted from Cerrillos turquoise which is still mined on some private claims in Cerrillos, New Mexico is a Zuni Maiden who prays for rain as she gazes skyward. Facial features are from jet paste and turquoise. An offering necklace is laced with an assortment of lovely turquoise beads. About 3 1/2" tall, 2" wide and 1 3/4" deep.
