Gloria Chattin
Enjoy either side of Gloria Chattin's Corn-Maidens who are wonderfully carved from a naturally convex purple spiny oyster shell incised with growing Corn and Dragonfly elements. Overlaid disc accents are from colorful natural materials like red coral, lapis and turquoise. The curvaceous Corn Maidens with jet facial features are permanently attached to a lovely base from lapis with subtle pyrite inclusions, along with crushed turquoise to represent water. About 3" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/8" deep, measurements include the base.
Cheryl Beyuka
Representing bounty and feminine strength, Cheryl Beyuka's Corn-Maiden fetish dangle earrings reflect golden gold lip shell light and loveliness. Etched eyes are filled with jet paste and wisdom comes from an inlaid coral mouth. Corn kernels peep out. Turquoise, coral and jet inlays add pops of color. Including hooks, measurements are about 2" long and 7/8" wide. They are lightweight in wearability.
Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez, Zuni-Acoma
Rare garnierite sometimes called green moonstone is said to refresh the soul by reconnecting the heart to the natural world. As a spiritual amulet, some say it helps to alleviate anxiety and depression through the healing of old wounds we may carry. This exquisite mineral is a green nickel ore originally found in New Caledonia around 1867 by French mining engineer Jules Garnier. Master carver Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez's stunning Corn-Maiden with etched Dragonfly and star designs is sculpted from a delicious portion of garnierite. A soothing face is from overlaid shell with etched features filled with jet paste. A purple alunite cabochon adorns her. About 4 3/4" tall, 3 5/8" wide and 2 1/4" deep.
Sandra Quandelacy
Lion's paw shell comes from a bivalve that lives in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The fascinating shell has prominent textured ridges with knobs that call to mind a lion's paw, hence its name. Sandra Quandelacy's collectible Corn-Maiden and Grandmother pendant necklace features a stunning sampling of orange lion's paw shell specimens. Representing intuitive strength and nurturing power, each feminine fetish has etched facial features, including some Dragonfly and star elements, all filled with jet paste. They range in size from about 1 1/4" to 2" long. The stunning necklace is about 26", a fashionable length. Some of the laced beads include red coral and pearls.
