Rickson Kallestewa enjoys carving in alabaster because of its medium hardness and the variety of gorgeous colors it comes in. He learned the art many years ago by watching his brother-in-law Darrell Westika.

We're honored Rickson is Keshi's current Artist Spotlight guest. Sunning on a rock is this relaxed Bear with two little offering bowl indentations on either side. Incised designs adorn this piece such as spiral, sun, crescent moon, raincloud, lightning, flute players, Deer or Elk and evergreen trees. They are brought out with colored paste. Incised claws and facial features are etched and darkened with jet paste. A lively turquoise stone offering is given. About 2 1/2" long, 3" wide and 2" tall, carved from one lovely alabaster specimen.
