Virgil Long, Navajo
is backordered. We will ship it separately when it becomes available.
Virgil Long hand-delivered this extraordinary katsina that he hand-carved of cottonwood and hand-painted with exciting and bright acrylic paints, to our Keshi gallery recently. He told us it's called the "Ancient One". The Flute Player in silhouette is the shadow self of the grown 60 year old katsina, who was once a young boy chosen to impersonate the "Ancient One". A yellow, red and turquoise raincloud element showers life-giving rain upon the Flute Player, as a blessing. A traditional hairstyle is intricately incised along with feather elements.
This is a wonderfully affordable, gorgeous and meaningful katsina to cherish. About 11 1/4" tall, 2 3/4" wide and 2 1/2" deep. Signed by the artist. Extra shipping charges may apply.

Fred Bowannie Jr.
Fred Bowannie Jr.'s extraordinary all hand-carved and hand-painted, cottonwood and acrylic paints "Bringer Of Seeds" katsina is about 9 1/2" tall, 8 1/2" wide and 4" deep.
We see the "Bringer Of Seeds" katsina emerging from a pottery offering bowl filled with colorful corn cobs and wheat stalks of plant fiber and cloth cording. The katsina is traditionally dressed wearing his kilt, jewelry and headdress with feathers.
At the base sits other gifts such as a red chili ristra, melons, squash, green onions, tomatoes and pumpkin. All this bounty is a result of the amazing seeds that transform themselves into life-giving food.
Signed by the artist. Extra shipping charges may apply.
