In Hopi worldview, the Sunface represents the honored sun because without it life on Earth wouldn't exist. The sun drives the seasons and weather, blessing the planet with cloud cover as seen forming in the sky above the Pueblo's landscape as depicted within the Hopi Sunface Katsina doll's blanket. Pyrogravure details and energizing acrylics adorn the cottonwood carving by Virgil Long. Measurements of the woodwork are approximately 10" tall, 3 1/4" wide and 2 1/4" deep, measurements include the base. Signed by the artist.
