Double-Sided Olla Women

By Sandra Quandelacy

This offering is sold.

Sandra Quandelacy's double-sided carving from turquoise depicts Olla Corn-Maidens and Grandmothers. They balance miniature "pottery" jars sculpted from Picasso marble, filled with crushed turquoise to represent the living water, on their heads. Grandmother's shawls or blankets have incised Dragonflies while Corn Maiden's bodies are etched with corn kernels accented with colorful red coral, lapis lazuli, gold lip mother-of-pearl shell, alunite and turquoise. Facial features are etched and filled with jet paste. About 2 1/2" tall, 1 1/4" wide and 1/2" deep.
