A glorious 9-piece nativity set has been brilliantly sculpted from burnished antler by Troy Sice. Each praising Bear with uniquely postured paws has been meticulously detailed, inlaid with various semi-precious stones, shells and corals. The mix includes pipestone paste, lapis paste, serpentine, malachite, lapis, turquoise, pen shell, spiny oyster shell, gold lip shell, abalone, red coral, angel skin coral, phosphosiderite and pipestone. The shepherd carries a silver staff and the angel has a stunning set of carved gold lip shell wings. The three wise bears and the angel each wear an elegant gold lip shell feather on their heads. In Zuni tradition, this signifies that one is going through a spiritual journey or process in order to fulfill a ceremonial obligation. Each creature has lovely pen shell inlaid eyes, while the kneeling parents and baby bear have precious paw pads from inlaid pen shell. The darling cub is removable, its laying down measurements are about 1" long, 1/2" wide and 3/8" tall as it cannot stand on its own. The little bed itself is roughly 1 3/4" long, 1" wide and 3/8" tall. The singing bears average from 2" to 3" tall, 7/8" to 1 5/8" wide, 3/4" to 1 1/4" deep. A museum quality set to treasure, don't miss it.
