Viewed as powerful creatures that help medicine men dig roots, the badger is an important animal for the A:Shiwi (The People). With powerful forelegs, sharp claws and enhanced senses, these fierce creatures are underground dwellers and have been seen hunting cooperatively with Coyotes. Badger (Donashi) is a tenacious and fearless being teaching us to embody that fighting spirit, to take charge and focus on our goals. Since badgers are often associated with medicine, their persistent attitude can help those injured and ill to focus on healing. Stevan Natachu's close to the earth badger with turquoise eyes has been carved from Picasso marble and inlaid with a handsome mosaic from turquoise, jet, mother-of-pearl and orange spiny oyster shell. The mosaic is flanked by beautiful etching resembling evergreen branches. About 3" long, 1 1/2" wide and 5/8" tall.
