Carved from rich blue sodalite with many interesting inclusions this bird by Cheryl Beyuka is truly something special. The graceful sweep of the overall shape is accented by the beautiful necklace of turquoise with a masterfully overlaid teardrop pendant of coral, jet, and turquoise. This pretty bird is about 5 1/8" long and 2 3/8" tall with eyes of inlaid jet.
Be sure to look for this beautiful bird in our Keshi advertisement featured in the March 2020 issue of New Mexico magazine.
Charles Martinez, Jr.
This necklace is a show stopper! Charles Martinez, Jr. carved a beautiful Bear from the spiral of a melon shell, a very large type of sea snail. On the shell he overlaid an alternating heartline of red coral. A wonderful Dragonfly friend is incised on the bear. This bear pendant is about 2 1/2" from nose to tail and 1 1/4" long, with a red coral eye. Above the bear are several other carvings, all of them carry their own unique personality. Highest on the necklace are two Beavers, one is carved of luscious mother of pearl shell, the other of Picasso marble. There are two Eagles, again one is mother of pearl shell but the other is a rich green serpentine. There is a Frog of Picasso marble and a Badger of red coral. Just above the bear pendant are two graceful birds of mother of pearl shell. Each animal has inlaid eyes of black jet or bright turquoise and range in size from 3/4" to 1 1/2" long. With a secure threaded clasp this necklace is 23" long. Signed by the artist.

Brian Yatsattie's young raptor is carved of Andamooka opal that comes from South Australia. It is prized and priced for its beauty and variations of color. This young Eagle has piercing eyes of inlaid jet and is about 2 1/8" long and 1 1/2" tall. Similar at first glance to Australian Boulder opal, the smooth stone hold tiny flecks of red and green fire through out the surface rather than concentrated in veins.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this eagle fetish will go to the Zuni Eagle Sanctuary. Please see our resources page for more information on the sanctuary.
