Brian Yatsattie's spectacular summery Frog is carved from genuine Funkite. The unique material's beginnings originated in a now defunct factory that specialized in painting large outdoor displays and sculptural installations. They used paint that was highly fluorescent and phosphorescent. Funkite formed through the layered buildup of these specialty paints, air-dried over time rather than heat-cured. Colorful quartz and gravel is sometimes included in the paint as the rare manmade material accumulated in a landfill located in North Carolina. Under a backlight, the material is said to glow with intense colors adding an interactive element to things created from it. The delightful amphibian's eyes are from turquoise inlays. About 3" long, 2 3/8" wide and 1 1/8" tall.
