Veronica Poblano descends from the greater Teddy Weahkee (d) family of carvers. Her father was noted and iconic Zuni carver Leo Poblano (d), nephew of Teddy Weahkee.
Carved from a magical fluorite specimen, Veronica's Frog is happily nestled in crushed turquoise, to represent water. A few bits of red coral are sprinkled amongst the turquoise as well. A beautiful abalone shell is where this amazing amphibian calls home. A frog is a precious creature that imbues all the medicine we've come to appreciate from this animal. In the Zuni way, a frog is a sign of water, where there is water there is life. A frog's animal medicine is about cleansing and emotional healing.
With big endearing eyes of turquoise, along with rare sugilite accents, this collectible work is about 3 1/4" long, 2 1/4" deep and 1" tall. It comes with Veronica's sterling silver signature label attached.
Four corn maidens and an Eagle are carved from one piece of fluorite by Mike Yatsayte. Together they bring a sense of feminine strength, wisdom and far-sighted vision to this 2" tall, 2" wide and 2 3/8" deep carving. Each corn maiden's face is incised and darkened with jet and they're embellished with turquoise accents. Dragonfly companions are present to bring their medicine as well. The raptor's eyes are of inlaid turquoise.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this eagle fetish will go to the Zuni Eagle Sanctuary. Please see our resources page for more information on the sanctuary.
