Proclaiming dominance, a ram (bighorn sheep or mountain sheep) rears up on its powerful hind legs to hurl with its incredible curved horns. Christopher Sandoval's turquoise-eyed ram has been carved from Indian Paint stone, also known as Death Valley Paint stone or Navajo Blanket stone. This gorgeous material comes from the Death Valley area of California, where collecting is no longer possible. The natural and diverse patterns seen in this sedimentary rock are divine. The sgraffito treatment on the horns is attractive. About 3 1/2" tall, 2" wide and 1 3/8" deep.
