White animals are a rarity in nature and are revered by Indigenous cultures. Polar bears are not a traditionally carved animal for the A:Shiwi (The People) but they are greatly respected especially by Inuit Peoples. In the Zuni way, white Bears are considered to have extra healing qualities. Carved from one antler specimen, Maxx Laate's mother polar bear stands watch over her resting cub. Wonderful eyes are from jet inlays. Mother bear's mighty paws are gorgeous. About 3 7/8" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/8" deep.
