Happy butterflies are an important part of Pueblo worldview. Designs of them are incorporated in paintings, pottery, textiles and even on traditional tablita headdresses. Magical
Butterflies (
Bula'kya in Zuni) help us see the sweetness in life. They encourage us to embrace the concept of transformation and metamorphosis as an integral part of life. Butterflies help pollinate plants and flowers too. Stopping by for just a brief moment, Nelson Yatsattie's Picasso marble winged friend is about 3" long, 7/8" wide and 2" tall. Turquoise eyes and inlays adorn smoothly sculpted wings. What a beauty!
