Since the beginning, turquoise has been deeply-rooted in Indigenous heritage and culture since before European colonizers arrived. It is revered as a living mineral representing precious water and the endless sky, offering spiritual protection among other attributes and uses. Archaeological evidence reveals that ancient Hohokam and Diné hammers were found at what is now the present day Mineral Park Mine in Arizona, where Kingman turquoise originates. Sandra Quandelacy's single hair bun-styled Corn-Maiden and Grandmother earrings are from stunning Kingman turquoise specimens. Facial features are from jet paste and red coral inlays adorn the traditional women. Including hooks, dimensions of these lightweight dangle earrings are about 1 7/8" long, 1/4" wide and 1/4" deep.
