Sandra Quandelacy's stunning reversible carving from iridescent black lip shell depicts a Maiden Grandmother and Corn-Maiden who watch over precious water, a living source of interconnectedness. They wear water-loving Dragonfly incised shawls with lovely etched fringe. They are on a base from marble with crushed turquoise to represent water. A baby conch shell "pottery" jar is filled with bits of lapis lazuli which also signifies life-sustaining water. Maiden Grandmother's face is from overlaid turquoise etched and filled with jet paste. Inlays like red coral, turquoise, malachite, jet, perhaps alunite and lapis accent them. Dimensions including the base are approximately 3 1/4" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 1 3/4" deep.
