Water-Carrying Corn Maiden & Grandmother

By Sandra Quandelacy

This offering is sold.

Sandra Quandelacy's back to back carving from one gorgeous denim lapis specimen hosts water-carrying Corn-Maiden and Grandmother. They balance miniature olla jars from serpentine filled with crushed lapis and Picasso marble brimming with turquoise bits, all to represent precious water, a living source of interconnectedness, on their heads. Grandmother's shawl or blanket has incised Dragonflies while colorful coral, mother-of-pearl, malachite, alunite, turquoise, gold lip shell, lapis and jet inlays accent the corn kernels of Corn Maiden's body. Etched facial features are accented with jet paste. Dimensions in their entirety are approximately 3 1/8" tall, 1/2" wide and 1" deep.
