Hummingbird has been associated with the arrival of the rainy season, transformation and brave warrior spirit. Ancient Mayan stories say that the sun becomes a hummingbird to court the moon. Danette Laate's precious bird is carved from alabaster with etched wings and perch. Turquoise eyes and a little bill are inlaid, while a Zuni Sunface element from jet, coral and turquiose is set. The traditional symbol represents the elements in balance. About 1 7/8" tall, 3/8" wide and 1" deep.
