This small yet powerful bushytail (
Coyote,
Wolf or
Fox) is carved out of antler by Lewis Malie, who is from the greater Laate family of Zuni carvers. It has an energetic presence, caught in a pose just before pouncing on something fun. The texture of the antler and the delicate incising lines gives depth to the fur coat. This incredible carving measures about 1 5/8" tall, 2" wide by 1 1/2" deep, with drilled eyes.
