By Lorandina Sheche

This offering is sold.

This offering is carved directly from the illustrations in Frank Hamilton Cushing's book Zuni Fetishes, first printed in 1883. Cushing wrote that the Coyote (Fox or Wolf) pair "is rare, and significant of other powers than those of the hunt". Lorandina Sheche is well known for her adoption of traditional old style carving. This particular pair is carved of bright green, speckled serpentine and rich black marble with a nice white inclusion. Both have eyes of inlaid turquoise and together they carry an offering bundle of red coral and turquoise as well as a watermelon serpentine point honoring the spirit and power of the bushytails. About 2 1/2" long, 7/8" wide, and 1" tall.
