This offering is sold.

The Golden Eagle or Boshkwa in Zuni is a sacred bird finding refuge in areas like the Twin Buttes Mountains (Kwili Yala:we) and the mountains around Pescado (Heshoda Ts'in'a). The Nutria (Doy'a) region is where some eagles come to hunt. There is a cliff named Eagle Nest near Pierced Rock (A'su'w'a) around the Cheama Canyon area, east of Zuni. One of the clans in Zuni is named after the eagle (K'yak'yali:kwe). This extraordinary raptor represents the Zenith or sky direction (I:yamakwi) and the multicolored direction (Idobanahna) in the Six-Directions. Calbert Bowannie's rich Nutria travertine Eagle is perched at about 4" long, 1" wide and 1 1/2" tall. Eyes are from turquoise inlays.
