Evalena Boone was born into a family rich in Zuni artistry. Her mother was the late Lena Boone(d), granddaughter of Teddy Weahkee(d) who was one of the first fetish carvers. Evalena's grandmother was Edna Leki(d) who was quite possibly one of the first female fetish carvers at Zuni.

Drawing on her rich lineage Evalena brings to life this beautiful bird. Carved from labradorite, the stone has so much flash and color that there is no need for much embellishment. Labradorite is said to balance one's aura and dispel negativity, it is is a soothing and alluring mineral. With eyes of inlaid coral this little treasure is about 1 3/4" long, 3/4" wide, and 1 7/8" tall.

While most people often consider wildlife something incongruous to urban environments, there are plenty of animals you can spot in your own backyard, including birds.  Birds often face displacement, habitat loss, and disease due to human interference, urban development, and climate change. Providing water, seed, suet, or other food sources is a great way to support honor these wild neighbors.
