Hopi Morning Singers come in pairs on the rooftops, singing songs to wake sleeping Hopi villagers. They appear at the Powamu or Bean Planting Ceremony. Sometimes they sing as they hold spruce trees and ring their bells. Virgil Long's cottonwood Hopi "Morning Singer" Katsina doll is skillfully carved and exquisitely painted with vibrant acrylics. Including the base, dimensions are about 10 3/8" tall, 4 3/4" wide and 2 1/8" deep. Signed by the artist.
