Rickson Kallestewa is famous for his original carving style, as seen in his lovable Horse (or pony) sweetly carved from one gorgeous alabaster specimen. He works a lot in alabaster. Rickson is from the greater Bica and Kallestewa family of Zuni artists. His grandmother was noted potter Nellie Bica (d) and his mother is potter Quanita Kallestewa. Incised eyes, nostrils and a mouth are darkened with jet paste. At about 4 1/2" long, 4" tall and 1" wide, this delightful equine wants to go home to you.
