Depictions of horned Lizards have been found on ancient petroglyphs and pottery because they are symbols of strength and healing. Indigenous Pima People believe horned lizards can heal by acknowledging and respecting the reptile's strength. They sing traditional songs honoring the horned lizard's natural behaviors to help a sick person get strong. A horned lizard fetish may even be placed on an afflicted person's body during the ceremony. Kenric Laiwakete's wonderful onyx horned lizard has turquoise eyes and a heartline or breath path.
