Lynn Quam is a descendent of the late Johnny Quam, an early Zuni Pueblo animal carver. Bison remind us to always offer prayers of thanks for the abundance in our lives. Some Pueblo cultures view a buffalo as a snow bringer. In Zuni Pueblo, a Buffalo Katsina comes with a Buffalo Maiden during ceremonial dances. Smoothly sculpted from attractive elkhorn marble, turquoise eyes and horns are set to this roughly 3 1/2" long, 1 1/4" wide and 1 3/4" tall bestowing gifts-buffalo whose powerful shoulders easily move thick snow aside.
