Katsinas are various masked ancestral spirits who come during Hopi religious dances. Meticulously carved from cottonwood and beautifully hand-painted with vibrant acrylics, Virgil Long pays close attention to details such as elegantly sculpted outstretched wings, individual feathers and traditional attire. The colorful base showcases pyrogravure accents of ancient ancestral dwellings and surrounding mountain range. Raincloud elements and a rising Sunface element also adorn.
