We love Sandra Quandelacy's double-sided carvings that submerse you into a traditional Zuni world. Her latest offering depicts Corn-Maiden and Grandmother presiding over life-giving water. These Water Keepers or Olla Maidens are carved from iridescent black lip shell accented with either red coral, lapis lazuli, turquoise or malachite inlays. Etched Dragonflies symbolize the presence of sacred water. A tiny carved pottery olla jar from Sonoran Sunrise cuprite is filled to the brim with bits of turquoise and red coral representing water. Including the base from perhaps alabaster or onyx, dimensions in their entirety are about 2 3/4" tall, 7/8" wide and 1 1/8" deep.
