Deep Sea Encounter

Magnificent sperm whales dive thousands of feet in pursuit of deep sea giant squid, a favorite meal. Putting up a fierce fight, giant squid use spiky suckers and barbed tentacles to cut and escape from the whales. Masterfully rendered from antler, Maxx Laate's ocean scene depicts this mighty struggle between a whale and many-limbed giant squid. Finely detailed, the whale even has sucker scars on the head or rostrum region and powerful fins. Eyes are from jet inlays. Dimensions of this fantastic piece are approximately 7 1/2" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 1 1/4" deep.
