By Hudson Sandy

Animal: Cardinal, Material: Apple Coral
This offering is sold.

In the East, few birds are as familiar and well-loved as the Northern Cardinal. The male "Redbird" is unmistakable, with a distinctive crest and vivid red plumage. The female's plumage, brown with red accents, is more subdued, but she sings just as sweetly as her mate. They are territorial song birds once prized as a pet because of their bright color and distinctive song. Fortunately, they are now protected in the U.S. by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and other legislation. Master carver Hudson Sandy's tribute to this dazzling feathered friend is presented in apple coral with jet inlaid facial mask and eyes of inlaid turquoise. Hudson honors the beauty of this bird with a necklace of inlaid turquoise and red coral. About 3" tall, 3/4" wide and 1 1/4" deep.
