Zuni carvers Daphne and Leland Boone's artistry pays homage to a rich heritage handed down by the late Lena Boone. She was an inspiring and award-winning innovator in the traditional art form utilizing materials from around the world like amber and glass. The family would journey to the White Mountains in Arizona to harvest serpentine along the Salt River. Today, Daphne and Leland are inspired by the colors of new materials and said they can't wait to carve into them. Their turquoise-eyed bushytail (Wolf, Coyote or Fox) is sculpted from lovely Texas soapstone. Its natural talc content and dense texture gives it a natural buttery feel. A pink mussel shell offering with turquoise beads compliments the metamorphic rock beautifully. About 3" long, 1/2" wide and 1 1/4" tall.
